👩🏽💻
The Beginning
I will forever be grateful to the Internet, Missy Elliott, Britney Spears and the Spice Girls (amongst many others). As a pre-teen, the things of the Internet and the confidence GRL PWR✌🏽 instilled in me always reassured me it was OK to think outside the box while standing in one. Over the years, I learned to take a walk down the block to let my creativity come to me. Channeling it led to my first stop in the fashion industry as a stylist, and back to the Internet as a creative director and product designer.
The Switch
I shifted to product design because I wanted to combine all my soft and hard creative problem-solving skills, curiosity and interests into a career that brings people delight similar to how styling did, but in a more tangible, measurable way. Thinking through business and user needs are challenges I find exciting and deliver with editorial flair. I find joy in designing seamless interactions that don’t make users think (too much) and adds to their emotion. I want them to feel something. Technically, I work across strategy, user research, complex UX and colorful UI, ultimately crafting products that users and businesses love along the way.
The human
After ten hustle-hard years in Brooklyn, New York City, I returned to my hometown of Kansas City with my husband and toddler twins. Although at times it felt like defeat, it was a win for everyone: more space, great schools for our curiouser and curiouser kiddos and remote opportunities as a creative career switcher.
I get supercharged on coffee⚡️ (cold brew or an espresso-based drink, 2-3 shots please!) and good conversations between friends about life, conceptual musings and what the future holds for us all.
